Candy Shorts, explained

Guide entry

Candy Shorts are short series of episodes built around AI characters: a couple of free openers, then tokens for the rest. Here is how the format works, using the three series that we cover with Kenzie Whitaker, a fictional AI character made by Candy.

The format in one breath

A Short is a small story, told in a handful of brief episodes, with a character from the platform at the centre of it. In every series that we hold, the shape is identical:

  • 5 episodes in total
  • 2 free at the start
  • 3 paid, at 12 tokens per paid episode
  • 36 tokens to finish

You watch these. You do not type anything, and the story does not depend on you. That is the main thing separating a Short from a chat, where the character answers you and nothing moves until you write.

How short is short?

We hold first-episode lengths for Kenzie's three series, and they give a fair idea of the scale:

So a first episode is roughly a minute. We do not hold the lengths of later episodes, and we do not hold first-episode lengths for the other seven series on file, so we will not extrapolate.

The free part and what it is for

Those first 2 episodes are the sample. In practice, they have a narrow job: establish the situation and the lead, and make you want the third. With running times at this scale, there is no room for a slow build, so a premise has to arrive quickly or not at all.

That also means that a Short's title often carries a lot of the load. My Neighbor's Husband Works Nights! tells you nearly everything before you have pressed anything. You know the setup. The free episodes merely let you judge how it is done.

Our free episodes page lists the free openers for all the series we cover.

Three examples, three kinds of setup

Her three series show how much range there is inside one fixed shape.

The staring series is a straight escalation: a man is caught, the embarrassment turns into a private game, and she keeps pushing it further with her sister close by. The neighbor series is a repeated visit, with something always broken and a husband always at work. Step-Sister's Secret is the outlier. A woman goes to therapy to end a fixation, and comes to learn that the therapist, her mother and both sisters seem to be scripting the man's desire. All of the characters are adults, and that premise is the least obvious of the three.

The same length and the same price produce three different kinds of story. Our starting order says which we would open first.

Tokens and what they buy here

Episodes past the free ones cost 12 tokens each, and that is all we can say with confidence about tokens as they apply to Shorts. You do not need plan prices to compare the series, since every one that we cover has the same cost. The episode table makes that plain,.

What a token costs in money is on Candy, along with any plans. We hold no such figures, and we will not guess. A sensible way to spend is to make the decision one series at a time: if the free 2 made you want episode 3, then you have a reason. If they did not, then you have saved 36 tokens.

Shorts and characters

A Short shares its lead with the rest of the platform, but it does not necessarily share her situation. Kenzie is the clearest example. Her profile and her chat are about a creator in a house swap at Minx House, while the synopses of her series describe other setups entirely and do not mention any of that. So think of them as roles for a recurring lead, more than chapters of one biography.

Other characters have series as well. Delilah Kane leads She Was Sent to Kill Me, and Colette Ramsey leads I Picked Up a Hitchhiker. Not every character has one on file here. The similar characters hub says which do.

Whether to bother

It costs nothing to try, which is the fairest thing that we can say for it. If you like a character and want to see her in a tiny story without having to carry the conversation yourself, a Short does exactly that. If you enjoy the back and forth, it will feel passive, and you should head for the chat.

For how this fits into the platform as a whole, see our general guide to Candy. Every title that we cover is on the series hub. Figures were checked on October 20, 2026.
